May The Odds Be Ever In Your Favor [ALL HALLOWS EVE INITIATION] Empty May The Odds Be Ever In Your Favor [ALL HALLOWS EVE INITIATION]

Post by Danny Winchester Sat Nov 01, 2014 8:59 pm

10 o'clock PM. This was everything that Daniel had been training for, for his entire life it seemed. As the man on the podium stood above the crowd of cheering people, he immediately pressed his mouth to the megaphone with a sly smile across his face, beginning the fateful speech before the gates would open for the dozens of students who were about to exit the haven to prove their survival skills. Beads of sweat formed on Danny's forehead as he stood at attention beside his fellow students who were all waiting.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls, allow me to introduce you to this years graduating class of hunters!" the man's ringing voice echoed over the speakers as the crowds began to cheer more. Danny could feel his throat thickening from the nerves as he looked around with his peripheral vision. "While this is a night of celebration and fun, we would like to remind everyone that during these darker times, it is nights like these that give us the strongest arms we have. We encourage everyone to stay after the initiation has ended to give a toast to our winners and pray for our chosen one to stand before us in due time."

Danny could see the stand where all the council members would usually sit. With his cousin Ben seated in the center and looking down on them all, he gave a small smile to Danny and mouthed 'good luck'. All eyes were suddenly on him as the lights shined down on each of the members, saying their names in alphabetical order. "Now that our hunters have been introduced to you, let us all gather and silently bow, praying to those who still watch over us to give them strength and send them home when the clock strikes twelve."

There was a sudden silence among the thousands of people. As the men and women got onto their knees, they joined hands in a silent respect while a bell chimed in the background. Nothing made Daniel more nervous. As everyone began to gather to their feet again, a gong was rung above on the top of the wall where guards were standing and the crowds of people began to chant. "Open the gates. Open the gates. Open the gates! Open the gates!"

"TO OUR COMMANDING OFFICER OF THE NIGHT! OPEN THE GATES AND SET THE HUNTERS FREE!" the man bellowed out into the megaphone, and with a loud, dense creek, the large double doors began to slide open. Once they were frozen, wide open and ready to go, each hunter in training stood in silence in their row, waiting for permission to leave. "Hunters, are you ready!" his aunt Reagan called out. All faces turned to her. "Yes, ma'am!" all voices, including his own called out.

"Are you ready to face your fears and come back stronger than you were before?!" she screamed at the row. "Yes ma'am!" "Will you kill to survive and do what it takes to make it back here alive?!" "Yes ma'am!" "I CAN'T HEAR YOU!" "YES MA'AM!" "THEN GO FORTH AND PROVE YOURSELVES! YOU HAVE TWO HOURS!" And with that, the trainees all sprinted toward the door. Danny ran, feeling the blood rush to his head as his adrenaline kicked in.

When the last of the trainees had fled from the haven, the doors had sealed shut once more. No one was allowed back in, and if they begged, they didn't pass. For the most part, the outside was very quiet and not much was going on. No croat or demon in sight. Still... with the amount of noise that Sanctus attracted tonight, they were bound to come eventually and he wouldn't be able to hide forever.

May The Odds Be Ever In Your Favor [ALL HALLOWS EVE INITIATION] Empty Re: May The Odds Be Ever In Your Favor [ALL HALLOWS EVE INITIATION]

Post by Holly Winchester Sun Nov 02, 2014 1:39 pm

All the festivity surrounding Initiation was lost on Holly.  Her mind rotated around a mental checklist, one she had gone over and over since the beginning of the week.  Meanwhile, her mind went through the motions of the event... until she caught the creak of the opening gates.  The pad of eager feet took off around Holly.  She quenched the urge to take off with them, fingers flexing around the strap of her bag.  No use trudging out into the world with all of them making such a ruckus.

Finally, when most of the HIT were through the doors, she followed while unsheathing her machete.  If anything waited outside, they'd be too busy mauling the eager beavers.

She trekked the familiar path – others choosing less beaten trails – to the innards of what was once Witchita.  Along the way, she plucked some plants that may prove useful on, later in the week.  Mostly, Holly tried to squash her excitement.  She had to concentrate.  Excitement led to bad observations, which meant anyone – or anything – could sneak up on her.  She had two hours to survive and who knew what was crawling through the streets?  The hair on the back of her neck stood on end and, for the thousandth time today, Holly tried to ignore her churning guts.  With Mary back in Sanctus, and the Initiation, demons and angels were sure to crop up and cause havoc.

The scent of rotting flesh and a low groan sent a warning bell through her mind, slicing through her worries.  She whipped her machete out to her left, barely nicking a zombie along its chest.  It gurgled and snarled, unfazed by the small cut on its face.  Holly stumbled back, leering at the creature.  Slow and bumbling, this wasn't like the bloodthirsty Croats.  This had to be one of the mutations of the Croatoan virus.  Or perhaps it was an old, worn down Croat.  Either way, easy first kill.

Holly lashed out again, re-calibrating her aim.  With a gooey, hissing slice, her blade cut through the zombie's neck.  The groan cut short, its body slumped to the ground, its head bouncing off the pavement of the streets.  It seemed the thump of the body echoed loudly on the streets and Holly held her breath, ears peeled for any shift of feet or threatening sounds in the streets.  Another annoyance of initiation: others, too many others, would be clomping about the city.  It was a double-edged sword, prone to rousing predators and to deadly bouts of “friendly fire.”

Once the body settled, silence loomed around Holly.  Far off, she could still hear Sanctus celebrating.  A slight wind whipped above her head and bats keened in the night air.  Nodding quietly to herself, Holly bent down and wiped her blade off on the zombie's shirt.  When she stood straight, Holly ducked down the nearest alleyway, creeping along the shadows and avoiding rusted, ancient trashcans.  She knew she had more to worry about than a single zombie tonight.

May The Odds Be Ever In Your Favor [ALL HALLOWS EVE INITIATION] Empty Re: May The Odds Be Ever In Your Favor [ALL HALLOWS EVE INITIATION]

Post by Noah Novak Mon Nov 03, 2014 3:45 pm

Noah stood with the rest of the Hunters in Training and he felt a tight knot of dread building in his stomach. This was the night, this was the night he'd become a Hunter and prove his worth he'd become a true Hunter. He stood by the doors with everyone else but he still felt sick and scared out of his mind, he prepared his weapons and stood with the others and felt nervous. He was scared but he wasn't going to admit it he stood strong and tall then he headed out from the gates staying on alert.

He turned his way towards the city drawing his machete and walking towards the areas that would be most likely to let him survive. Fear was probably going to get him killed so he fought it down and walked along the path he looked towards a building and smiled. Noah quickly tucked away his machete and using what Grandpa Pierce taught him he climbed up to the rooftop and took in his surroundings. He saw the other HITs were all killing their targets and he was trying to gain the higher ground, once he was there he knew he'd be secure for now.

Noah sighed as he tried to find an easy enough target but so far he wasn't seeing anything he was having a decently easy day. It was better than he had expected given that this was supposed to be hell, this was supposed to be a greater challenge than any before. He growled under his breath and watched the croats and zombies he was freaked out and he was more than anything willing to do this. Though he didn't see anything yet he jumped from the roof onto another one and as he landed he saw a zombie on the rooftop. As soon as he saw the thing he drew his machete and he smirked it was moving slow this wasn't a Croat it was a walker.

Dodging back he drew his machete and then lunged at it aiming to cut off it's head and with how slow it was moving it was easily done. But in doing so he hadn't noticed that there were more coming up to the roof top, he growled in frustration and watched the others approach. Noah was not going to be taken down so quickly, he knew that finding a better strategic position would be better than staying here and he did just that. He took off towards another part of the roof and leapt away. The Zombie's shuffled around confused and Noah took a minute to gather his breath and he then turned to find other places to hunt.

May The Odds Be Ever In Your Favor [ALL HALLOWS EVE INITIATION] Empty Re: May The Odds Be Ever In Your Favor [ALL HALLOWS EVE INITIATION]

Post by Raptus Mon Nov 03, 2014 4:42 pm

This was not an easy task and Raptus knew this. Many of his followers expressed a bit of concern when he came forth with his plan to raid Sanctus on the day of the festival. Of course, it was the one day that they would have their guard up the most - when their younglings were off scampering around trying to survive. For the most part, guards were pretty on top of things to make sure no one died. If anyone looked like they were having that much trouble, they'd gather them up and pull them back inside and slap another year of training on them.

Then again, they weren't dealing with Raptus those past years, were they? For the most part, everyone assumed him to be dead, and he was pretty well known for his trouble he had caused during the first few years of chaos, roughly 20-15 years ago. His disappearance lead most to believe he was never coming back, when in truth, he had just been preparing armies. Armies of demons that would lead him to this day.

When the gates had opened up and the rascals were set free, Raptus watched over a fair few of the people who were passing by, acting so brave and trying to do the right thing. This was a battlefield though, and they had no idea what they were up against. No idea. A few people who caught Raptus's eyes though, from the insiders within Sanctus had recalled, were two of the Winchesters. Holly, Dean's daughter, and Daniel, Sam's son.

Not only were they taking part in the event, but one of Castiel and Aislinn's children was as well. A giant smile curled up on his face. Oh he knew the pain it would bring those two if something happened to their precious boy. He just loved to see the torture in Aislinn's eyes. Disappearing from his spot on one of the buildings that towered down to see the maze of men and women who were wandering about, he appeared some distance away from the three of them, who were all conveniently placed on the map at some short distance from each other.

Crossing his arms as he waited, he had hoped that one of them would see him and try to fight him. Oh, they were in for some trouble if they thought they could take down a high tiered demon.

May The Odds Be Ever In Your Favor [ALL HALLOWS EVE INITIATION] Empty Re: May The Odds Be Ever In Your Favor [ALL HALLOWS EVE INITIATION]

Post by Holly Winchester Mon Nov 03, 2014 7:46 pm

As Holly ducked and crept in the dark, the ruckus of her fellow, hopeful, Hunters-To-Be echoed through the night.  Howls of attack, the slicing of machetes, guns firing.  Plenty of them were eager to prove themselves worthwhile.  Pumped up on adrenaline, they took off in roves to batter any creature that happened in their path.  That just meant here were less problems for Holly to encounter.  Of course, she had to do something.  People were watching and if she weaseled her way out of work, it'd be known.  And then she'd have her family to deal with.

A cold jolt licked over her spine, tingling sensations resonating in her bones.  Her gaze whipped around, seeking out the source.  It couldn't be Crowley.  He had the ability to sneak up on her.  So it was someone, something, else triggering her minute ability to sense magic.  Or maybe it was just intuition goading her to take a look.  Either way, it didn't bode well.  Her thoughts immediately jumped to demon or angel.  Unless it was a very big, very dense crowd of Croats or walkers...  Neither thought was welcome.

She peered around a corner and... spotted him.  A darker silhouette among the night.  Her stomach somersaulted as her fingers tightened around her machete's handle.  Oh yeah, he was the one setting her off.

She narrowed her gaze, pressing herself into the shadows again.  From this distance, she couldn't pick out defining features, but his silhouette seemed familiar.  And not familiar in the sense of “oh, I passed him on the street the other day.”  His image was drilled into her head, whether by a mentor or her father or someone else.  Someone big, bad, and powerful.

Her mind reeled, again, to Mary and the rest of Sanctus.  What was a big, bad demon doing here if the haven was supposed to be threatened?  Shouldn't someone who seemed to exude this much power be a high-ranking officer – or whatever they called their ranks – that was needed in the thick of the real battle?  Unless he looked to pick off the next generation of hunters.  That could cut Sanctus's morale and emotional stability to nil, watching their children tortured and murder after so much celebrating.

Or just certain kids.  She licked her lips, going through her mental roster of family that were participating tonight – Noah and Daniel – and, of course, wondering if Mary was still in Sanctus.  Holly clenched her eyes shut and shook her head savagely.  Worry about the why later; for now, trap or kill.  Trap or kill.

She couldn't draw a demon trap in her ceremonial chalk.  He was bound to erase a line.  Could she draw it in blood?  Did she have time to carve it somewhere?  Maybe into the blade of her machete?  Ugh, no, she didn't have anything to carve it with, other than the machete itself, and her minor witchcraft wouldn't work on the iron.

Holly's eyes lit on battered, rusty trashcans and a lonely, big ole dumpster tipped on it's side, trash strewn over the ground.  Her eyebrows raised, a plan curling through her thoughts.

About ten minutes later, after rushed carving with her machete and using minor magic, she had successfully carved or burned demon traps onto the bottom of three trashcans, carved it onto the side of the dumpster and hidden one beneath the trash that strewn out from the dumpster.  She dusted her grime covered hands off, ignoring the stench of foul garbage.  She was just thankful no Croats or zombies caught her by surprise during her elaborate trap set-up.

Now, to get the demon's attention.  This was the dangerous part... well, and fighting him, if it came down to that.

Holly stepped out from beyond the corner, rifle swinging into her arms, and quickly closed the distance between her and the demon.  Not too far, but enough.  She quickly took aim and shot off two salt shelled bullet, not expecting them to do much other than amuse or piss off the demon.  As soon as the shots rang off, Holly backed up without turning, rifle still poised to shoot as if to fire off rounds if he pursued on foot.  She counted to five – believable enough to lose your conviction to face a demon - before tearing off down the alleyway where she had laid her trap.  Holly scrabbled up the side of the dumpster, positioning herself on the demon's trap she had taken care to carve.  In the trash strewn before the dumpster, she had hidden her another trap.

If this didn't work, hopefully some would take notice.  Some would come and investigate.  Hopefully, the guards watching would take note and sound an alarm in Sanctus.

May The Odds Be Ever In Your Favor [ALL HALLOWS EVE INITIATION] Empty Re: May The Odds Be Ever In Your Favor [ALL HALLOWS EVE INITIATION]

Post by Danny Winchester Mon Nov 03, 2014 8:49 pm

Crawling on the ground as several croats seemed to wrestle for their lives around him, Danny had managed to stick his blade into both of their heads once he had gotten enough reach. Dusting himself off as he quickly got to his feet, he wiped the dirt from his hands and then ran his fingers through his hair to look around carefully. It was so dark on the other side.

Rather than a rustle in the bushes or the sound of a snarl, but the smell of something vile had caught Danny's attention, to which he had noticed that someone was messing about with the trashcans of the rusted dumpster nearby. It wasn't a walker, and it obviously wasn't a croat at this point (he had taken out most of them once he had caught their attention). So what was going on?

What made this more alarming for him though, was that overpowering the rotting smell of garbage was the distinct smell of sulfur, and immediately Danny's heart sank. Oh no... not now... he immediately turned, looking in all directions to see if he could possibly find what the source of it came from.

His attention was brought back to the person messing about the garbage cans, who seemed to suddenly dash away. Too dark to see who it was or where they were going, he slowly approached the trash, looking about it carefully to notice that there were demon traps that were upon different sets of it. So they obviously knew what was going on as well, and a bit of relief washed over him. Whoever this was, they knew what they were doing.

Suddenly, as if a fireworks display went off next to Danny, the sound of a gunshot ripped through his ear and pulsated  as he jumped, turning to the direction it came from - Holly, his cousin was only a couple meters away, and she was aiming at what appeared to be the shadow of a man. "Holly--what are you doing??" Danny's voice murmured just loud enough for her to hear. Sure, the first part of her plan seemed smart - capturing it with a trap, but shooting right at it seemed to be... asking for trouble.

May The Odds Be Ever In Your Favor [ALL HALLOWS EVE INITIATION] Empty Re: May The Odds Be Ever In Your Favor [ALL HALLOWS EVE INITIATION]

Post by Noah Novak Tue Nov 04, 2014 7:20 pm

For all that Noah knew this was a night to prove his worth it was more about survival, showing they were smart and worthy to be called Hunters. It was for that reason he kept his gun in it's holster and kept his head down, the only weapon he kept drawn was his machete he wasn't about to let anyone take it from him. He was on guard and he almost wanted to call them idiots for firing their guns so frequently and doing their best to draw attention. He sighed as he thought about how much a wreck he'd be next year when it was his siblings out here.

Noah heard some rustling in some garbage and his attention was half on that but then he was distracted by some Croats coming at him. He climbed back over the wall he'd started down and scrambled away not afraid but knowing better than to get caught by a Croat. He was sure that this was going to prove probably a harder year than one's past it made sense  after all Mary should have been out here at some point but she was too precious. Noah always thought it was a bunch of crap that she was so sheltered but a part of him knew it was the only right thing to do.

He couldn't help but wonder how she'd be doing out here and if she'd make it, he shook that thought from his mind. He had to prove his worth he had to prove that he was a worthy Hunter that he was more than just the oldeest son of Castiel and Aislinn. With that thought he charged the Croat that was coming at him and dispatched it then spun to face a walker lopping off it's head. He sighed in relief as he realized he was holding his own for now he just hoped he didn't encounter an angel, he could hold his own but not for long especially without an angel blade.

First Noah heard the sound of a gunshot and he spun like a top to see that it was Holly then Danny's words were what drew his attention towards him as well. "Holly!" Noah snapped sharply irritation racing through him as the smell of sulfur hit him he groaned. "Oh fuck." He muttered and sheathed his machete and drew his own gun he wasn't about to let this demon get the jump on him. He was smarter than that and he was going to be able to protect himself from it because that was part of his job.

Noah did his best to stay back he was too close to the Prophet to risk a direct head on confrontation with a demon. He knew that he was in danger out here but if anything happened to him and Mary got hurt he'd never be able to rest in whatever after life he'd earned. He just hoped that they all survived this night, he saw the shadowed man and a part of him was terrified of what it was but he didn't let it show. His posture stayed tall as he stared at the shadowed figure and stood on guard.

May The Odds Be Ever In Your Favor [ALL HALLOWS EVE INITIATION] Empty Re: May The Odds Be Ever In Your Favor [ALL HALLOWS EVE INITIATION]

Post by Raptus Fri Nov 07, 2014 4:14 am

Although Raptus had been keeping his eye on the three of them rather carefully, Holly did seem to slip from his vision at one point when he had moved his attention Danny attacking several Croats. None of them had seemed to notice his presence... or, Danny or Noah didn't seem to. When Raptus turned back around to look at Holly, he took note that seemed to disappear. Well, that was never a good sign, so Raptus boosted up his defense, heightening his senses and waiting for something to happen.

Danny must have heard something rustling in the bushes near an old dumpster because he suddenly ran off in that direction. Before Raptus could take a step forward though, a rattling snap perked up his ears as he immediately turned, noticing Holly holding up a gun in his direction. Immediately, he had burst into a puff of smoke as the bullet went through, nearly scathing him had he not noticed a second before.

Swirling off into the distance and into the tall grass, his blood began to boil as appeared some distance away from them on the other side of the field, this time facing their backs. Now the three of them seemed to be togehter, all drawn to the sound of the bullet. This actually made things a lot easier for him! Team Free Will's trio of children all hopelessly mangled together for him to torment.

Well if they wanted to play that game, then so be it. As Raptus's eyes thickened to a darkened, clouded black, he lifted up a single finger, making the motion of 'come hither' as the wind started to pick up. The tall grass around the children began to sway in his direction, but continued growing stronger as the clouds above them thickened to a dark, massive wave that blocked the only light that came from the full moon.

"I hope the three of you are as strong as your parents are," his voice loomed out as the wind continued to pick up. "Because the last time they dealt with me, I was a simple grunt of a demon--very low on the scale of power. And even then, they could barely escape my wrath," Raptus's fierce, cold gaze slowly curled his lips into a sly sneer.

May The Odds Be Ever In Your Favor [ALL HALLOWS EVE INITIATION] Empty Re: May The Odds Be Ever In Your Favor [ALL HALLOWS EVE INITIATION]

Post by Holly Winchester Sat Nov 08, 2014 9:41 pm

“Crap.”  Holly muttered as the demon smoked out and into a field.  The scent of sulfur slammed into Holly senses.  Her gaze followed the demon's relocation.  She was so focused, she barely heard Danny's inquiry or Noah's irritated snap.  Her ears finally registered them, but she didn't dare take her eyes off the demon, “Hey, guys.  Which one of you wants to stay and which one of you wants to raise the alarm in Sanctus?”

Two of them might be able to take the demon, at least for a little bit, until reinforcements arrived.  If Holly had to, she'd delve into her bag of magic tricks.  She really didn't want to, though.  As the demon roared and the wind picked up, Holly wasn't sure how feasible it'd be to delay usage... or if it'd even matter.  Her mind still fingered through demons, the name 'Raptus' alighting with suspicion.

Her fingers adjusted their hold on her gun, still leveled at the demon.  Sanctus would notice the weather changing and moonlight being blotted out, so reinforcements may come sooner than expected.  If this guy was Raptus, he was a threat to Mary.  Holly's hackles raised at the thought.  Knowing her sister, she'd try to get out of Haven for a night of freedom.

"If you two want to run, do it now."  Holly muttered from the corner of her mouth.  If Danny and Noah wanted to take off, let them.  If they did leave, Holly took all the brunt of any of her tactics.  Which meant she didn't have to worry about them getting angry nor worry about friendly fire if her last-ditch witchy aim was terrible.

“Why don't you come and get us, if you're so powerful?”  Holly bellowed, the wind whipping her hair around by this point.  She had to tempt this demon closer, get him to bumble into a trap.  Maybe studying magic, and sometimes consulting demons, made Holly a little more lax with demons than any other creature. It sounded like he was the type to pursue something that would fluff his reputation.  “Or is the big, bad Raptus scared?”

May The Odds Be Ever In Your Favor [ALL HALLOWS EVE INITIATION] Empty Re: May The Odds Be Ever In Your Favor [ALL HALLOWS EVE INITIATION]

Post by Danny Winchester Tue Nov 11, 2014 6:24 pm

This was just asking for trouble. Despite the fact that there was some real danger here, Danny knew that if any one of them were to go back to the doors and beg them to be opened to warn them of the demon, they'd immediately be disqualified. "If we go back, we don't get to be initiated," Danny spoke rather stubbornly. "Look, we're going to have to go about this differently. If we can raise attention to this area so the search lights come down on us, we might be able to warn them without fear of disqualification."

Looking back as the wind picked up, he saw the demon treading toward them slowly, as he immediately took a defensive stance, stepping up in front of Holly out of habit in protection. Glaring at the words that the demon spoke, his teeth clenched together as he heard Holly speak once more, telling them to run if they wanted. Turning back at her, shaking his head, he kept a hardened gaze. "I'm not leaving you here to fight this thing by yourself."

Looking back at the demon as he drew closer to them, Holly started taunting him, causing Danny's heart to race in apprehension as she looked back at her in confusion. What the hell was she doing? Did she really think she could fight this thing by herself? Where was she getting this kind of confidence from?

OOC: During the events of this thread, there is also a Daeva infiltrating Sanctus, and a few demons have also gotten inside the walls and are attacking people from within. So a lot of things are getting hectic and reinforcements are not going to be coming. Not quickly, anyways.
