 Jungle of Death Amazon-jungle

The rainforest jungles of Central America... Of the few remaining places that were never touched by man, this was true beauty and terror of nature herself. The entire forest was teeming with life that chirped, croaked, and roared with ferociousness, but it was, at the same time, beautiful. At least to a man who was walking through the grounds of it. this definitely was the first time being in a place like this, with so many trees, so many wild animals and creatures that are more Natural and less Super. These are creatures of earth, and he enjoyed them down to the smallest ant.

"This place.... it's pretty amazing." He stated, kneeling down to watch the line of the insects going back and forth. He wasn't sure where Azrael was, but she was still around, searching for some place that this Tablet she spoke of would be hidden. The two took it upon themselves to find it, hoping that it would end all this conflict and the world could be at peace once again from all the chaos that was happening. He knew he ought to be looking for it himself, or at least, find a place that does look like it could be hiding in. From what he learned, he Tablet could be Anywhere! And what better place to start off than one of the most difficult of terrain...? Jericho then slowly stood up and stepped over them line and made sure his coat wouldn't bother them before continuing on with his journey through the jungle.

"You found anything, Az?" He asked her, and she could hear him through that telepathy. During their time together, Jericho became more open with the angel of death, but there are other things he still kept to himself from her, mostly because they were things he doesn't understand himself. "This place is pretty huge, and I don't see any humans, demons, angels or undead around here." He said, moving away some large leaves that were in his way.

Jungle of Death Empty Re: Jungle of Death

Post by Azrael Tue Nov 11, 2014 11:03 pm

Despite the supposed severity of the situation, Azrael was rather at her leisure as the bustling jungle life roamed around her. She listened in on all the chirping and gurgling and far off growls of prowling predators, feeling like she was back at the start of human life when less things people inhabited the planet. It was like Earth was trying to reclaim itself, and the angel couldn't really blame it.

She could sense Jericho nearby, still surprised that he'd agreed to come with her on this little excursion. Sure, she appreciated it, but it wasn't like they were best friends. They were just...well, maybe friends of some sort.

She glanced in his direction then, just a flash of his coat, but enough to know where he was walking. At the moment, Az was just perched in a tree, not really doing much to kill the stereotype of angels being over-sized birds. But you couldn't really blame her. Archangels and Seraphs were soldiers, hunters, and as such, sitting in high places like dangerous birds of prey was far more common than people realized. Her eyes were sharp and clear as she peered through the emerald leaves, but it was time to get back to scoping the area rather than just enjoying the view.

With a spread of her large, black wings, Azrael jumped from the branch she was crouched on, drifting down into a tree closer to her companion. That was what finally allowed her to catch what he was saying. "First of all? We talked about the nickname thing. It's Azrael," the angel scrunched her nose from her hidden perch. "Second, it used to look like this in a lot more places," she announced before jumping down and landing in a crouch next to Jericho. Az stood then, brushing herself off, folding her wings in behind her as they disappeared against her back. "But uh...kinda. Definitely nothing aside from animals though. I doubt people wanna contend with jaguars and giant insects," she huffed. "But there seems to be some sort of ruin a few miles south. Might be worth a shot."

Jungle of Death Empty Re: Jungle of Death

Post by Jericho Wed Nov 12, 2014 1:57 am

"Okay, okay..." The man smirked with crossed arms and held his hands up. "Whatever you say, Azrael." He spoke in a sarcastic kind of way, but he would honor her request on calling her by her name... For now! When she did mention about ruins, he looked up at her. "Really?" He unfolded his arms. "Well, I'd like to see." He said and stepped back before he jumped up into the air and onto the tree where she was on.

He was rather quick with his climbing, and also acrobatic as well doing a couple of flips and having to use the momentum to be able to acsend up to the tree tops rather quickly! It startled the birds all around, and when he poked his head through the trees, he felt something around his head and on his face! Peeling it off, Jericho held up a small monkey, which chirped and tilted its head out of curiosity of who and what he is, but it sure wasn't scared. Smiling, Jericho softly scratched it on its neck, and it took his finger to playfully nip at it before climbing on to his shoulder. "Aren't you a strange one. But you're alright." He told it, and it screeched a bit in return. Finally, Jericho turned his attention beyond the trees... There, he was able to see in the distance the stone square structure from a small clearing of tree tops. "I think I see it!" He said to her, and Azrael could see his hand flat above his eyes to shield from the sun.... And the monkey was mimicking him~

Finally, after taking his time to take in the glorious view, Jericho looked back at his wings... Those tattered things that were hidden on his back... All he could do with them is glide. But... If only he was able to fly! That would be much easier than running! Than climbing! He could be like the Angels.... Like Azrael. But he was only half of what they are, and he couldn't help but feel... Frustrated. With a sigh, Jericho shook his head along with the feelings before he had dropped down! The small monkey held tight to him all the way to the ground! Dropping to a knee, Jericho grunted and stood right back up on his feet. The monkey had relaxed a bit before he looked up to see Azrael, and it screeched with hair standing from everywhere! It didn't seem so happy to see the Angel of death herself...

Jungle of Death Empty Re: Jungle of Death

Post by Azrael Wed Nov 12, 2014 3:33 pm

Azrael didn't have much time to say anything else before Jericho was leaping into the tree she'd just been in. The angel sighed, running a hand through her hair as she leaned against a tree and stared out into all the emerald leaves and plants and greenery around her. It was peaceful, in a way. Not exactly her favorite temperature -- much too humid for an angel who's grace burned cold -- but it definitely reminded her of much simpler times.

After a few moments, Az glanced up, the sound of monkeys catching her attention. She wondered what the heck Jericho was doing up there, but he called out about seeing the ruins then, and she just kept silent, waiting him to come back down. Obviously, she wasn't expecting the monkey to be perched on his shoulder. The sudden aversion to her wasn't as much of a surprise though.

"Oh hush you," she told the animal, waving her hand a bit to prompt some calm in the creature. It wasn't necessarily that she was the Angel of Death which prompted the reaction -- though that was definitely part of it. It was the fact that the animal was a prey animal, and Azrael was a predator. Maybe she didn't quite look the part, but Archangels and Seraphim were terrifying weapons when Heaven needed them to be. That coupled with the whole death thing always made certain animals react harshly to her presence.

"You're not seriously gonna keep that thing, are you?" Az raised an eyebrow, her tilting in the other direction. But she didn't give Jericho much time to answer before she turned on her heel and started walking in the direction of those ruins. "I'd fly us there, but that would only leave us unguarded once we actually made it," she explained. She'd gone over the whole angel-depowered thing with him before, so she was certain she didn't have to explain much. "So we're gonna have to walk. Should only be a day or two."

Jungle of Death Empty Re: Jungle of Death

Post by Jericho Wed Nov 12, 2014 6:30 pm

Jericho simply replied to her with a smirk. The monkey would stay as long as it would want to, and it doesn't seem like it'll leave anytime soon. It still felt some uneasiness towards her, but still it was a bit calm. "A few days walk, hmm...? Alright. Best get to it." Jericho nodded and continued to walk the direction of where they saw the ruins.

It after hours of hiking the jungle started to thicken around them, and the trees were so numbered that their branches were able to block out the sun to make it an eery darkness... The humidity also added to the creepiness, but what did get his attention was that silence; not a croak, nor a chirp, nor even a growl was heard around them... Complete silence. "That is... Strange..." The daeva stated, looking around through the thickening jungle, and the fog there hid from them most of the forest.

Jericho continued to watch his step, being dude that he won't be able to trip over the roots of the trees that curled out and back into the ground. It reduced their speed quite dramatically, so a couple of days would seem about right... But he couldn't help but shake the feeling of some sort of imminent danger. "You know, Az... To be honest, this place is kind of giving me the creeps..." And the monkey was feeling that way as well, looking around shaking. Before she could tell him about shortening her name again, the two could suddenly feel some kind... Something... It was a bad kind! And it was many kinds of them as well, coming from all around! Jericho turned to Azrael and have given her a questioning look. "What the hell is that...?" And the monkey started to frantically chirp and screetch behind them... Those red, glowing eyes slowly appeared from the fog, and the sillhouettes of tall, thin beasts were coming from the fog, growling and drooling. The man stepped forward and went in front of The angel. "What are they...?" Only she would know what they were... Evil that devours.

Jungle of Death Empty Re: Jungle of Death

Post by Azrael Thu Nov 13, 2014 12:19 am

Walking wasn't really something Azrael liked to do. As an angel, it had always been unnecessary. At least before the end of the world had officially taken over and her status and abilities as a Seraph were reduced by quite a bit. It wasn't like she never walked at all, being a fallen angel to begin with, but it was almost excessive now, and she couldn't help but feel a little out of her element.

She kept a little bit ahead of Jericho, listening to the sound of his feet upon the ground behind her, and the light chirping of the monkey still perched on his shoulder. They walked over rustling leaves and around low branches, Azrael's frustration increasing though she put on a good show of being a stereotypical stoic angel despite all the effort and heat. She was so focused on moving through the brush that she didn't notice how dark it was becoming until she looked up, realizing the murky leaves and branches high above them were blocking out the little bit of sun that still remained for the day. It was probably a good idea to make camp for the night. They could move around better during the day.

She never got a chance. Jericho spoke then, and Az's keen hearing tried to pick up on any sound of life. But the Daeva was right...it was silent, and that immediately put the angel on edge. She let one of her angel blades slip into her hand, pausing when her companion spoke again. "Yeah...me too," Azrael agreed, ignoring the nickname. This was much more serious than Jericho shortening her name, and it wasn't long before the monkey started to panic, meaning the three of them were definitely not alone.

The red eyes were suddenly all around them, gaunt, black figures moving in closer. Azrael gripped her blade tightly, watching as Jericho got in front of her -- she wasn't a damsel in distress, was he being serious? -- before moving a bit closer to him. "Kind of demon I think..." she grumbled, eyes alert, getting ready to pull out her second blade. "Get ready to fight."

Jungle of Death Empty Re: Jungle of Death

Post by Jericho Thu Nov 13, 2014 3:52 am

Once she had said that, one of them roared and extended its arm out to them, initiating an attack! All the others around it started to rush towards them, howling like the beasts they were! But they weren't very smart ones... The man lunged forward and raised his feet up to make the first contact, smashing one of their skulls in and causing it to whimper and whine. Two others attacked next to him, but he was much faster and countered their swiping claws by hitting their wrists and smashing his fists into the creatures, having them fly back with the strength he was using.

Then, Jericho felt his leg grabbed and a painful sensation from his calf! One of the beasts had bitten into him, causing him to yelp out a little before lashing down at it to have it let go of him before stomping on its head to smash it! And then, he was tackled down, but quickly got back up to his feet when he kicked the beast off of him after a roll. It landed next to Azrael, and she could see plainly what it was; Wendigo!

These beasts were definitely hard to kill, especially since they can't be killed by Jericho's brute force.... Good thing she had her Angel Blades! But his pride says he doesn't, which is why he hadn't asked for it yet! That, and he seemed to be having some fun, smiling a bit as dark blood stained him during his gory fighting! He even was able to rip out one of their arms and impale it with it's own arm before kicking it to a few others! "Whew!" He looked over at the Angel of Death to see how she was doing~

Jungle of Death Empty Re: Jungle of Death

Post by Azrael Sun Nov 16, 2014 4:38 pm

As soon as the creatures attacked, Azrael was at the ready. Her angel blade swooped around, shoving itself right into one of their necks with a sickening slide, and then a pop sounded after she pulled the blade out. One of the creatures was going for her leg and she kicked out, striking it in the chest before ducking under the claws of yet another creature. The soldier in her was extremely apparent in that moment, the fluid way she moved between the monsters, striking out with her blades, dodging attacks. She was in her element for the first time in a very long time.

Suddenly, she heard Jericho cry out, jerking her head around to watch as one of the monsters bit into his leg. She moved towards him, but he was already kicking the creature away. As soon as it landed at her feet, Az shoved one of her blades down, killing the..."A Wendigo?!" she exclaimed, extremely confused. Wendigos were cold-dwelling creatures, ones that existed in caves and on mountain ranges. What the hell was a Wendigo doing out here?

There were no time for questions, not when there were still plenty of monsters to take down. Azrael suddenly jumped left, avoiding the claws of yet another Wendigo as it tried to impale her back. But she was thrown off balance by the move, being knocked onto her side as another monster jumped onto top of her. She struggled, trying to get her blade to hit home. But the creature was strong, and its claws suddenly dug into her arm, causing the angel to cry out.

It was instinct at that point, the way ice started to crawl up her arms and engulf the Wendigo. Unfortunately, these monsters were native to the cold, and it didn't seem like it was affecting it much. But it was startled enough for Azrael to shove kick it off of her before she lept forward, landing on top of the monster before driving one of her blades into its head.

"How many do we have left?!" she shouted, getting to her feet and ignoring the burning pain in her bleeding arm.

Jungle of Death Empty Re: Jungle of Death

Post by Jericho Wed Nov 19, 2014 9:59 pm

Jericho continued on with this fight until she asked until how many were left... Their numbers didn't dwindle at all! "I think we should run...." He said and looked at her. "I can feel that there is something more to them than we think!" And he turned to head over to her, and she could see that the monkey was hanging on for dear life within the hood of Jericho's coat. The sun disappearing above them, the mist that suddenly rose up, and these wendigo's who appeared out of nowhere, and where they normally don't show; Something definitely is up!

"Come on!" Jericho spun-kicked one of the beasts that charged at them, knocking it into another group of them to buy them some time! He then grabbed the angel's wrist and rushed forward to a sprint before letting her go, since he does take off at alarming speeds! As the two ran, they can hear the wendigos following after them, howling and roaring through the forest and the mist! But Jericho didn't look back, nor did the monkey. The man jumped, lunged, and twisted his way through the trees, dodging any that he would have run into! And suddenly, lightning!

"Woah!" He lunged to the side and rolled before sprinting forward again, only to have to do it again! Pillars of lightning started to strike down at them from above the tree tops, and they were so close that they seemed like something really was trying to stop them! So, using his speed and reflexes, Jericho dodged one strike after another, looking back at Azrael for a millisecond glance to see how she was doing in this whole fiasco! First Wendigo's, now lightning bolts, and if dodging trees weren't enough.... There is definitely something within the forest! The answer must be at whatever lies within the pyramid they saw! Only a matter of time until they would reach it... If they survive this, that is!

Jungle of Death Empty Re: Jungle of Death

Post by Azrael Thu Nov 20, 2014 12:26 am

Running. Right. Probably a good idea.

Azrael wasn't usually one to run from a fight like this. She was a soldier of heaven, all hard instinct and icy grace and deathly intent. Fighting was something she had always reveled in, something that made her proud to be an angel where other aspects made her ashamed. But the Daeva was right, they needed to run. The two of them were no match for this many Wendigo, and they were both injured at this point. Not to mention the creatures just kept coming.

It didn't matter anyway, Jericho was suddenly grabbing her wrist -- he would get a rather chilly sensation from that -- and the two of them were taking off back into the underbrush. Even after he let go of her, Azrael did her best to keep up, her legs striking the ground as they sprinted through the dark, emerald forest that lay before them. "I'm not exactly made for running!" she exclaimed, hoping they wouldn't have to keep that up for long. But she didn't get a reply before--

"What the hell?!" Azrael jumped back when Jericho did, quickly dodging the lightning striking down at the ground around them. There was another bolt, and another, and it was only instinct as the angel started to teleport from one space to another to avoid all the lightning. But it was wearing her out fast, and they still had a long way to go.

Azrael could feel her energy start to give out bit by bit, the storm raging around them, the Wendigo breathing down their necks. "We need to get somewhere safe!" she shouted over at her companion as she dodged yet another lightning strike. That one was extremely close though, and Az could feel a white hot burn on her leg as she cried out again -- more in surprise than in pain -- her lungs straining for breath.

Jungle of Death Empty Re: Jungle of Death

Post by Jericho Thu Nov 20, 2014 4:01 am

Jericho looked back at the angel, having to dodge more of the sky's attack against them! Damn this jungle! Damn these Wendigo beasts! And damn this lightning that struck out if nowhere! The monkey that hung with Jericho stared at Azrael, and it seemed concerned for her and gave her a screetch before he had swung with Jericho! He jumped up into the branches and used them to lunge forward; even though he has no idea where he was going, something drew at them... Luring them closer to what he hoped was the end to this madness! When lightning struck in front of him, he used his tattered wings to evade with sharp side turns and push him forward!

Suddenly, and finally... The Jungle stopped, and the two made a break through! The sunlight had hit his skin, the Lightning stopped, and the presence of wendigos disappeared, so he slid to a halt, the monkey clinging to him until they were stationary. With a smirk on his face and a cloud of dust behind him, and the large pyramid ahead of him, Jericho laughed. "Hehehe... Heh... Well.... It seemed we made it. Right Az?" But, he wasn't able to get his answer; she wasn't there next to him... "Az?" He looked around for the angel, and the monkey itself was as well, searching for Azrael. It was strange.... He could feel her presence, but it seemed the two were separated in different dimensions? Turning towards the lonely, towering Aztec Pyramid, he felt the need to approach it... So he did.

Azrael could find herself alone as well, the wendigos gone, and the Lightning stopped with its attack... All there is was the Pyramid and the feeling that Jericho was still there. But both of their senses were being manipulated by the strange and powerful magic that is testing them both. She could feel him head towards the pyramid stairs and start to ascend up the stone steps one at a time. Whatever secrets this place has, it is going to definitely show them everything it has... Jericho reached the top of the stairs, the monkey on his shoulder as the entrance to the chambers ahead were blocked off by a door. He wasn't able to read the encryptions. "Dark and Light shall be one, and chaos will bring Death to them all." Jericho stared up at the symbols and images, one being some sort of being of light, another of darkness, and above the entrance was one that is both. Unsure of what it was all meaning, he placed his hand against one of the circles, and it started to flow out this aura of unholy power that was coming from his darker side, and she could see it as well, flowing out this fog of evil from the demon statues mouth, eyes, and nostrils. But the other side wasn't responding at all... And another circle was there for her to place her hand on...

Jungle of Death Empty Re: Jungle of Death

Post by Azrael Sat Dec 06, 2014 6:23 pm

Her lungs strained for air and her grace fluctuated inside of her vessel, but Azrael pushed on, doing her best to try and reach the end of the unforgiving terrain...and then nothing. The angel crashed through the edge of the trees into sunlight, and she paused for breath, hunched over against her knees to try and get a hold of herself. "That was close," she grumbled, but was smiling a bit, glad they'd made it out of there-- wait... "Jericho?" she finally looked around, having realized that he wasn't next to her. "Jericho?" she called again, taking a few steps forward before pausing. Something seemed very off here, if the sudden disappearance of her companion wasn't already evidence of that.

But he wasn't just gone, not really. Azrael could still feel him nearby, like he was standing right next to her even if she couldn't see him. A dimension trick, something she'd seen other angels pull off before. This was only similar to that though, less elaborate since she could still feel Jericho close by. But it was impressive...and worrisome. She looked over at the pyramid then, feeling a sense of dread ride up her spine. But there was no choice, if she wanted to make it out of here alive and find Jericho, she'd have to trudge on.

The air was thick with some sort of magic Azrael was both familiar with and not at the same time. She could feel Jericho right next to her, walking up the stairs at the same time that she did. Her vessel's heart was pounding against her chest, but still she went on, knowing Jericho was matching her pace as they made it up to the top of the stairs. "Dark and Light shall be one, and chaos will bring Death to them all?" she repeated at the same time he did, narrowing her eyes at how ridiculously cliche this all sounded. But her shaded green-blue eyes moved to the circles then. Dark, light, and both.

It was then that the air started to grow dark, and Azrael knew without even seeing it that Jericho had touched one of the circles. "Damnit Jericho!" she shouted, not knowing if he'd hear her or not, but knowing he shouldn't have touched anything. Regardless, there was no choice now. She tentatively reached up, hoping this wouldn't end badly, before placing her hand on the light circle.

Instantly, her grace heated up and light burst forth from under her hand. She could see Jericho next to her now, darkness flowing from him as light burst from her.

And then everything lit up until Az couldn't see anything.
